The Chair’s goal is to develop new thermoplastic-based blends and nanocomposites. Its efforts will help to develop new plastic materials having properties that will make them:

  • lighter;
  • more resistant from a mechanical standpoint;
  • more environmentally friendly;
  • conductor of electricity;
  • capable of dissipating thermal energy;
  • biocompatible;
  • more hydrophilic or hydrophobic, according to requirements.

Several industrial sectors could benefit from the Chair’s work, including:

  • Packaging;
  • Civil construction;
  • Biomedical;
  • Energy.

Developing these materials is done according to the requirements of the industrial world and is based on the basic principles of materials science and engineering. These principles will allow us to understand and manage the materials properties.
