With thesis

The structure of the ÉTS thesis programs is unique because of the emphasis on research. 15 of the 45 credits required for a Master's degree are dedicated to academics, while the other 30 are dedicated to research and writing a thesis. In addition, in order to be adequately prepared for the research component, students must successfully complete an engineering research planning course during their first term.

With project ("professional")

There are three types of professional graduate programs:

  • The short program (15 credits) comprises five 3-credit courses related to a specific topic.
  •  
  • Specialized graduate program (30 credits) comprising five 3-credit courses and one
    15-credit project, or eight 3-credit courses and one 6-credit technical project, or ten 3-credit courses with no project.
  •  
  • The Master's program with project (45 credits) requires 30 academic credits
    (10 courses) and one 15-credit project, or 39 academic credits and one 6-credit technical project. Among other things, the project allows students who are already on the labour market to target a concrete problem within their companies and to contribute to its resolution.

Many students aspire to management positions, and those who are completing a Master's program with project must take between 4 and 6 management courses related to the field of engineering. Therefore, by enrolling in a professional program, they can enhance their technical knowledge and acquire management skills.
