The Research Team in Work Safety and Industrial Analysis (ÉREST) of ÉTS, directed by Professor Sylvie Nadeau, has been awarded the Antoine-Aumont Prize by the Quebec association for occupational hygiene, health and safety (AQHSST).

This prize, which it received on May 21, 2015, at the AQHSST Conference, highlights the ÉREST’s outstanding contribution to the field of occupational health and safety, more specifically for spearheading a number of innovations that have saved lives and that are now part of the daily routine.

“We are proud of this recognition, which reflects on our entire team, from its newest to its most experienced members,” said Professor Nadeau.

It is the second time in history that the Antoine-Aumont Prize has been awarded to a research team.

ÉREST in brief

Canada’s largest research team devoted to workplace health and safety, ÉREST is composed of a multidisciplinary team that develops tools to protect workers from accidental death and injury as well as occupational diseases. It also designs safer production systems and equipment.

Its activities focus on four strategic areas: risk management, safe design of equipment and workstations, industrial hygiene, and design of protective equipment.

Through its association with the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), ÉREST participates in international projects, in addition to maintaining its numerous collaborations with its national partners, such as the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST), the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health of the Université de Montréal, CIRANO and the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Antoine-Aumont Prize

Established in 1988, the Antoine-Aumont Prize is awarded by the AQHSST to an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to the fields of occupational hygiene, health and safety in Quebec.
The prize was named in honour of industrial hygiene pioneer Antoine Aumont (1915-1993), who devoted a good part of his career to fighting noise.
